Angel Cake
Biografía
Angel Cake, a Moray native now based in Glasgow's Southside, is a turbo-charged force of French-inspired energy. This Northern Scots quine merges many different flavours of musicality into her DJ sets. These delightfully groovy sets seamlessly blend elements of French Touch, Electro, and Future Funk.
As one of the residents at "School Nite Sessions", a pre-club night which started in Govanhill at the outset of 2026, Angel Cake delivers a monthly array of funky heaters, often drawing on musical influences from the early 2000s, which has a tendency to be associated contemporarily with a sound and aesthetic termed "Indie Sleaze". Angel Cake's sets are far from sleazy however, and instead are joyous and nostalgic. Through frequent utilisation of Daft Punk's back-catalogue, as well as that of Justice, Fake Blood and the Ed Banger crew, Angel Cake weaves together sets which harken back to a simpler time.
Upon hearing Justice's monumental "Cross" album as a teenager in the late noughties, Angel Cake developed an obsession with all things French. As a result of this life-changing musical exposure, this Francophile DJ chose to pursue a DJ career which allows her to expose others to the music she loves. The gritty slap bass samples of Justice, the electro-lined synth patterns of Daft Punk and the smooth groove of artists such as Fred Falke & Alan Braxe make regular appearances in her DJ sets.
Classically trained in piano to Grade 6 level, Angel Cake also has an interest in music performance and production, and has utilised this skill recently in presently-unreleased tracks by herself and frequent collaborator, Swedger.
As 2026 sees a revival of Tektonic dancing and renewed interest in French House music globally, it seems apparent that the world is healing and, indeed, the world is ready for the ascension of Angel Cake. Watch closely as this Glasgow-based DJ makes waves across the city and beyond.
