Classically trained in piano, Baum fell in love with electronic music, hip-hop, and New York bands in the early-00’s. For the past 15 years of production and performance, Baum’s multimedia practice has covered a broad spectrum of music, artwork, and film for stage, gallery, and recorded formats.As a solo recording artist, Baum debuted in 2014 with an EP of alternative-electronic songs titled “Beyondré is Born.” As a conceptual sound artist, Baum crafts installations and improvised performances using voice, live electronics, and field recordings. These most notably include a series of works with iconic German artist Rebecca Horn. Frequently drawn to collaboration, Baum’s first music producer credit was with Vanessa Daou’s “One Thing I’m Missing”, which he composed around Daou’s acappella vocals using sounds from an apartment in Lower East Side, NY and debuted on BBC 6. As one-half of electronic duo People People, Baum released his first 12” on Discobar in 2020. It featured a club remix by techno legend Ricardo Villalobos. In 2021, Baum released a series of singles and music videos as an introduction to songs under his own name. He also premiered live at Berlin’s Club der Visionaere, both solo and with duo People People. In 2022, Baum continued his live streak while hosting People People Things in Berlin. So far, 2023 saw Baum release “Forgive the Night” EP with Chris Korda on Foom, debut People People live at NYC’s Resolute/Jigit party, release Beyondré LP “Berlin Blue” on Chapelle XIV, and is releasing the first People People LP on Yoyaku in September.
