Alexander Arpeggio started djing in 2002 under the influence of New Wave, Italo Disco, Minimal Synth. His Dj sets are always a story made of cosmic, wave, obscure disco and contemporary electronics. His label Mond Musik officially re-releases and re-edits obscure and unknown German productions from the late 70's to early 80's like Papertiger And The Catcammer Orchestra, Eiskalte Engel and Der Gøtling. The Gøtling LP, for example, was recorded and restored by the original band. Only 50 hand-numbered cassette copies of this underground minimal synthesizer project were released in 1986! Founded in 2016, Mond Musik's sub-label called "One World" showcases emerging and previously unknown talent and aims to build a community of contemporary producers with a different take on club music. The sound can be described as raw experimental acid, spatial techno, bubbling soundscapes and hazy rhythms. Alexander also curates the bi-monthly event Club Cosmic (a club version of the summer festival Camp Cosmic/Cosmic Gathering) as part of his residency at Berlin institution Sameheads. As a producer, Alexander Arpeggio released an EP on the Austrian label Neubau and one German-language song each on the Sameheads compilations together with Marlene Stark and French artist Oh Landy. As part of a residency for the Europalia Arts Festival, Romanian artist Maria Balabas and Alexander Arpeggio collaborated on a live performance showcasing a highly experimental approach to dance music. With Danish producer Nikolaj Birgens, he explored the more German side of kraut-beat Schlager and released on the French label Macadam Mambo as well as on the Belgian label ICI. He made remixes for Multi Culti, Schatzi Musik, Two many Squares, Hivern Discs and Dischi Autunno. Alexander Arpeggio is together with Cid Hohner part of Aufgang B. An analog live set project from the music genres downtempo, acid, industrial. The project shared an EP on Serious Trouble with Benedikt Frey and released the B-Ware EP with a remix of Tolouse Low Trax on Neubau. A remix for Khidja has been released on the Spanish label Hivern Discs. Another live project with Cid Hohner is the band 'OTTO'. This is about old organs and preset rhythm drum machines. The third EP Stimmungen reached the Groove Single Charts 14, a remix for Dollkraut on Jennifer Cardini's label and their first album on Bureau B are the latest releases. The latest Pop Kultur Berlin fanfare was produced by OTTO. Learn more about sound design and soundtrack composition here. Alexander Arpeggio is also responsible for the musical conception, composition and sound design of the theater piece "M" (season 2020/2021). In 2021 in collaboration with the Goethe Institute he worked in Bulgaria on the musical background of a video on intercultural exchange.
